What is carom ball?

Well...  Usually carom ball will be bowled by a spin bowler. This kind of spin will make the batsman confuse about the delivery. It’s a surprise delivery by the bowler to get a quick wicket….

 

 How carom ball bowled?

Usually carom ball will be bowled by using the middle finger. Most of the world’s top class bowlers will use their middle finger to spin the ball. Ajanta mendis and R Ashwin is one of the greatest carom bowlers. Carom ball will be bowled by flicking the middle finger this gives the illusion of a leg spin…

Mystery delivery...

This delivery will be vary by the bowler. Some carom ball will make a leg break that which makes the batsman surprise, some delivery will not make any turn, it depends on the bowler’s ability. No one knows which way the ball is gonna turn until it hits the ground this was the main mystery about the delivery…

Using your ring finger.

To bowl a carom ball with your ring finger you don’t need a great grip towards the ball. Instead of using your middle finger use your ring finger to flip the ball.

Initially you won’t get a big spin while doing this but …. When you are really passion about this kind of mystery delivery you need to practice a lot.

Flicking the ball.

Well... You don’t need to squeeze the ball to get a nice turn am sure you ll feel very comfortable with your ring finger. If you squeeze the ball you ll miss the length or the line…. So make sure you have a normal grip. The light grip will make you to turn the ball very harder.

The flight..

To bowl a good carom ball you need have a good flight. Toss the ball up as much as u can and don’t bow a full toss, most of the carom ball will be deceived in a good flight. Remember flight is one of the main factors for any spin bowler.

Don’t bowl often

Use this delivery as a great weapon don’t use this carom ball often cause if you use it often the batsman may pick your bowling action and make use of it.

Don’t give the batsman to take a chance with your mystery delivery. Remember,  it should be a mystery one

Tips to Bowl carom ball

·        Bowl with a good flight

·        Aim for the target

·        Mix the deliveries with doosra, off spin, quicker one etc..

·        Make sure you hit the correct line and length.

·        Don’t bowl often

·        Try to turn the ball as much a u can

Always aim for the stumps so there is a lot of chance to get a LBW
